Spanish and foreign experts are meeting in Cordoba from April 26-28 to discuss this topic.

Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Cordoba is hosting an international seminar on “Translators, Copyists and Interpreters: Jews, Christians and Muslims and the transmission of the Bible in Arabic during the Middle Ages,” in which specialists from different domestic and foreign academic institutions will be studying the many translation strategies and techniques used by Muslim, Jewish and Christian translators in order to find new topics of interest and track possible sites of intercultural transference between the translators and interpreters of the three great monotheistic traditions.

The seminar has been organized by the University of Cordoba (Spain), the University of Tel Aviv (Israel) and the Advanced Studies Institute at Princeton (US), and it was co-organized by the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation, the Tourism Delegation of the Municipal Government of Cordoba, the Cordoba Near Eastern Research Unit (CNERU), and the Spanish Ministry of the Economy and Competitiveness, through the research project “Studying and editing Greek-Arabic and Latin biblical and patristic manuscripts.”
