Debates on the Arab Spring

From April 14, 2011 until May 04, 2011

In the context of the current historic events in the Maghreb and the Middle East, on May 3rd and 4th, Casa Árabe and Madrid’s French Institute organize a series of debates focused on the Arab Spring, in collaboration with different think tanks and Spanish associations (Foro complutense, Reporters without Borders, Casa de Velázquez, FRIDE, Platform of Artist Women Against Gender Violence, IEMed and Club de Madrid).

Five round tables will gather experts from different countries and with various approaches that will analyse the events which has been taking place in the Arab countries for the last months.

This event seeks to bring together actors and leaders of these dynamic civil societies, whilst also taking stock of opinions from regional analysts. The aim is to exchange views and ideas about the main challenges of the upcoming period. Our wish is to create a forum for open dialogue, in which the Arab world takes centre stage.

This workshop will take place at Madrid’s French Institute [Institut Français de Madrid] (c/ Marqués de la Ensenada, 12), Tuesday May 3rd, from 16.00 to 20.00; Wednesday 4th, from 9.00 to 14.30.
