CORDOBA
Casa Árabe exhibition halls (at Calle Samuel de los Santos Gener, 9). From 1:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. Closed on weekends and holidays. Free entry until the event’s capacity is reached.

As of October 28, you can visit this exhibition, organized in conjunction with Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Cordoba, to mark the 80th anniversary of Spain’s Republican exile.

On the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the end of the Spanish Civil War, this exhibition hopes to bring knowledge to its viewers about some of the features which characterized the contexts in which the members of Spain’s Diplomatic Corps had to carry out their activities, during both times of peace prior to the coup d’état on July 18, 1936, and that which was brought together during the conflict, given the desertions which took place from 1936 through 1939.

It also attempts to show how works by historians have been oriented. After lengthy research in Spanish and foreign archives, they have revealed the essential guidelines followed by diplomatic professionals, constituting a subject which is not greatly discussed in standard textbooks or the most commonplace history texts distributed to the public.

It reflects the ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation to increase awareness about its civil servants in the past among the generations of the present. Only those with knowledge about history can deal with the challenges of the future.
