Mahmud Reda: a life for dance

Mahmud Reda and Farida Fahmy, director and first dancer of the Reda Troupe, will explain their experience in a conference next 28th June in Madrid.

Mahmud Reda, considered father of the Egyptian dance, is co-founder, choreographer and director of the first folk dance company in Egypt, the Reda Troupe.

After the conference, they will take part in an open discussion with the audience, and the showing of the film Love in Karnak, by Ali Reda (Egypt, 1967, 105 min.) will take place.

Romance and affairs between the two main stars of a dance company. It constitutes a testimony of the creation of the first national folk company in Egypt, the Reda Troupe, and shows the adaptation of traditional Egyptian folk with regard to the typical cabaret shows of the films in the fifties.

This activity is organized in association with Festival Raks Madrid 2010.
