GENERAL DIRECTORSHIP

EDUARDO LÓPEZ BUSQUETS
Eduardo López Busquets was born in Valence on the 9th July
1957. He is a law graduate of the University of Valence. He became
career diplomat in 1985 and he received a master degree in International
Policy from the Free University of Brussels.
Since 2009 and up to his appointment as General Director of Casa Árabe, he has been Ambassador to Mozambique. Previously he had served in several countries, for instance, as Deputy Chief of Mission in Algeria and Iran.
During his long professional career, in the Presidency of the Government and in the ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and in the ministry of Defence and of Presidency, Eduardo López Busquets has focused his activity on a group of different but related axes: political analysis, paying special attention to transitional societies; European and Mediterranean security; and public diplomacy.
In Mozambique, country with 30 per cent of Muslim population, as the name itself denotes, Eduardo López Busquets did not only analyze the political, social, cultural dimension of the Muslim communities, specially on the North of the country, but also guided his work taking into account that his aims were: to boost Spanish enterprises within the emerging economy of Mozambique, specially focusing on cultural creative industries as potential employment and wealth sources; to set Spain as a global tourism power which can contribute to Mozambique's development; and to identify social agents within the outskirts of big cities, using new technologies to foster the very positive image Mozambique has from Spain and to develop networks with Spanish public diplomacy agents (NGOs, Foundations, professionals, Business Schools).
As General Director of Casa Árabe he is committed to develop both his work and the one made by his collaborators based on those very same goals, among others.
