On Thursday 23 February in Cordoba, Casa Árabe, the Provincial Council of Cordoba, and the Sísifo Group of the University of Córdoba will be presenting this work, in which 32 scholars and researchers are participating.
The book "Archeology of Madinat Qurtuba: Reflections, news, stories" is a huge and extraordinary work of editing by Desiderio Vaquerizo (Professor of Archeology) and Javier Rosón (Casa Árabe), in which 32 researchers/academics participate throughout 63 chapters. The idea of creating this book has as a turning point the preparation of the series of conferences "Archeology of Islamic Cordoba", which took place at the headquarters of Casa Árabe Cordoba between October 30, 2019 and November 4, 2020, on the occasion of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the inauguration of Casa Árabe's Cordoba headquarters.
Throughout its 560 pages, this volume gathers the archeological advancements of recent times with respect to Qurtuba-Cordoba, given the relevant role that this city played as the capital of al-Andalus from practically the beginning of the eighth century until the fitna and even after. Cordoba, which was one of the largest, most complex and prestigious cities in the world during the Caliphate period, deserved this effort, which is now seeing the light thanks to the invaluable work of each and every one of the professionals involved in this volume.
