Casa Árabe celebrates Women’s Day

Casa Árabe’s two headquarters (at Calle Alcalá, 62 in Madrid and Calle Samuel de los Santos Gener, 9 in Cordoba). Check dates and times for each activity.

In order to mark the occasion of Women’s Day, Casa Árabe has organized various activities at its headquarters in Madrid and Cordoba. Check them out below.

The activities are as follows:

Tuesday, March 7, at 7:00 p.m., MADRID. Conference “Arab Women Storytellers: Challenges and realities,” given by Reem Bassiouney, in which she will explore the linguistic realities of Arab women as storytellers.  As part of the Aula Árabe Universitaria program.

Wednesday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m. CORDOBA. Conference “Women in Madinat Qurtuba: City, society and research,” given by Carmen González Gutiérrez, in which she will analyze the inclusion of the gender perspectives in historical and archeological studies of Al-Andalus.

Monday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m. MADRID. Presentation of results of the “MAGIC” project (Muslim women and communities against gender-based Islamophobia in society). MAGIC’s purpose is to prevent gender-based Islamophobia in Spain and Belgium, above all in the media, by training community leaders and Muslim women as notable opinion leaders in both countries, in order to provide them with the skills and tools needed to identify and fight stereotypes against Muslim women in public narratives. The objective is to promote knowledge, dialogue and cooperation between these groups and professionals working in the media.

Tuesday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m. CORDOBA. Conference The Impact of COVID-19 on Arab Women: Rebuilding their daily lives through the pandemic,” given by Emma Murphy. As part of the Aula Árabe Universitaria program.
