On Fridays, March 5 and 12, we are offering this musical activity designed for adults and children between 6 and 12 years old. Sign up now to make sure you don’t miss out!
Music is always an essential way to get to know a culture better. It tells us about a people’s folklore, spirituality, traditions, celebrations, everyday life...
The workshop we are giving aims to provide an initial look at Egyptian sounds and percussion. Throughout the workshop, we will become familiar with instruments, rhythms and dances that will give us a basis to continue enjoying and exploring Egypt, its culture and its music.
The experience will be as participatory as possible. Because this is an online activity, each participant will use the instrument or instruments they have at home to create and interact during the workshop.
Practical instructions to bear in mind:
- No prior knowledge of music is required to take part in the workshop, just the desire to have fun.
- You will need a percussion instrument to take part in the activity. Ideally, a djembe, derbake or Egyptian tambourine. If you don’t have one, you can certainly find buckets, bowls, or wooden boxes with a large surface area (remember that the idea is to gain familiarity with rhythms, hand gestures and musical cadence).
The workshops will take place on Fridays, March 5 and 12 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm (90 minutes) and will be held online through the Zoom platform. The number of participants is limited to 10. Out of respect for everyone, we ask you to arrive punctually before the session begins.
The price of the activity is 3 euros per participant. You may register by filling out this form. Once completed, we will send you an email with instructions for payment.
