Every Day is Monday in Diwaniyah

As part of the event Book Night 2019 (“La Noche de los Libros”), Casa Árabe and the Zoográfico Ediciones publishing firm are presenting this book of poetry by José Malvís.

Taking part in the presentation along with the author are Iraqi poet and writer Abdul Hadi Saadoun, and Rodrigo Córdoba, the editor at Zoográfico Ediciones.  Presented by Karim Hauser, Casa Árabe’s Coordinator of International Relations

“Our eyes only wish to see amid the dust
of what we were and are,
and never of what we shall become.”
This book of poetry by José Malvís speaks about the author’s experience in Iraq, where he was stationed with the Spanish military for four months from 2003 to 2004. The book won the Antonio Machado International Literature Award at Collioure 2018.

The presentation of this book of poetry forms part of the program for Book Night 2019.

José Malvís was born in Valladolid, the city where he was educated and resided until just a few years ago. He currently lives in Zaragoza, where he has become one of the individuals with the greatest presence and outreach within the new generation of poets in the cultural scene of Aragon’s capital city. He has authored two other published books: Cápsulas (Capsules, Lastura, 2013) and Replican-Test (Amagord, 2015). He was a finalist in the Third “Ateneo de Valladolid” Youth Poetry Competition in 2003, for his work El payaso de lluvia (The Rain Clown).
