Presentation of the “Halal Chef” training program

July 10, 20239:00 p.m.
MADRID
Casa Árabe headquarters (at Calle Alcalá, 62). 9:00 p.m. Attendance by invitation only.

The Escuela de Hostelería Salamanca (Salamanca Culinary Arts School) and the Embassy of Malaysia in Spain will be presenting this new program at a gourmet cuisine event in Madrid on Monday, July 10.

Casa Árabe is hosting the presentation of the new “Halal Chef” training course offered by the Escuela de Hostelería Salamanca, organized by the school in collaboration with the Embassy of Malaysia in Spain.

The event will include the participation of Ricardo Gómez Marcos, director of the Escuela de Hostelería Salamanca, who will be presenting the information on the training provided in the “Halal Chef” program, and Muhammad Escudero, Managing Director of the Halal Institute, the entity which provides certification for the training program.

After the presentation, we will be hosting a cooking demonstration given by Luqman Zhulkepli, a chef at the Embassy of Malaysia, and Ricardo Gómez Martín, gourmet cuisine coordinator at the Escuela de Hostelería Salamanca, who will be cooking some of the dishes in person, ending with a small tasting of his dishes.

The “Halal Chef” training program at the Escuela de Hostelería Salamanca has come about as a result of the existence of a significant labor supply of “halal” chef in the food services industry (hotels, restaurants and cafés), and a lack of proper training in the educational market to meet this need.

It is intended for young Muslims who have completed high school and are interested in the world of cooking. It will be held across two academic years in which the students are trained on the most important information, techniques and culture of halal cooking, in order to better influence the tastes and regulations of Muslim consumers and thus be able to develop their skills for work at hotels, restaurants and catering services, above all airlines where halal catering has become quite commonplace.
