“A Sea of Words” literary contest 

The European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), with the cooperation of the Anna Lindh Foundation, is holding the thirteenth edition of this Euro-Mediterranean youth writing contest. The deadline for submitting texts is May 17.

For the first time this year, the stories must involve the topic of “Youths dealing with climate change in the Mediterranean and Agenda 2030 for sustainable development.”  The deadline to send in texts elapses on the upcoming date of May 17.

The text must be no longer than 2,500 words and may be submitted in any of the languages of the Euro-Mediterranean countries: Albania, Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Mauritania, Monaco, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Since 2008, IEMed and the Anna Lindh Foundation have been organizing this contest intended for youths between the ages of 18 and 30 from the 43 countries in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The winners of the contest will get to travel to Barcelona in September 2020 to attend the awards ceremony, take part in a writing workshop and see the city.
