Casa Árabe is hosting an AECID seminar for gender equality
Held on the dates of October 4 and 5 within the framework of the
Agency’s Masar Program, it included participation by five Arab experts.

On the dates of October 4 and 5 the very successful preparatory Global Seminar at Casa Árabe was oriented towards providing a regional overview of the status of women’s rights. The Seminar included participation by the Arab Women’s Legal Network (AWLN) and five Arab experts, who gave presentations on the advancements and challenges for Criminal Law involving violence against women, and on Family Law and Shari’a. It also included the participation of speakers who discussed the case of Spain: Matilde Fernández, former Minister of Social Affairs and currently a Senator, Ángeles Álvarez, a member of parliament and spokeswoman for the Equality Commission of Spain’s Congress of Deputies, and María Tardón Olmos and Carmen Delgado Echevarría, magistrates with the General Council of the Judicial Branch of Power (CGPJ).
