The meeting was attended by H.E. Dr. Ali Bin Tamin, President of Abu Dhabi’s Arabic Language Center and Secretary General of the Sheikh Zayed Book Prize, and H.E. Saeed Hamdan, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center. And on behalf of Spain, participating in the meeting along with Lozano was Cristina Juarranz, the Assistant Director of Casa Árabe.

During the gathering, the authorities from the Emirates introduced their institutions and the initiatives they are carrying out to promote teaching of the Arabic language, including scholarships, workshops and awards. Moreover, they are working towards the creation of a form of certification for teaching the Arabic language to non-Arabic speakers, an area which is also of interest to Casa Árabe.

The Emirati representatives insisted upon their concern for collaborating with Casa Árabe on these and other activities, all soon to be given form in an agreement between the institutions which are involved in the project. By doing this, Casa Árabe would become the second European institution to strengthen ties with the aforementioned entities, after the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris.

Last of all, Casa Árabe was invited to take part in the next Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, a major meeting point for the publishing industry in the Gulf region.
