Dialogues with artist Ana Crespo at Asarté Art Initiatives

Crespo’s work forms part of the exhibition “JAYAL, Creative Imagination,” which is on display at Casa Árabe until March 5.

February 13, 2017
ASTARTÉ Art Initiatives is launching an “Artist of the Month” project, a program with ten proposals per year in which selected guest artists are invited to present their work and hold dialogues with the public.

For the month of February, the selected artist is Ana Crespo, coinciding with the exhibition “JAYAL, Creative Imagination: Sufism as a source of inspiration,” which is on display in Casa Árabe’s exhibition halls, including contributions by this artist, along with fifteen other creators from the Spanish-speaking world. ASTARTÉ Art Initiatives is providing the opportunity to become more familiar with the “Taj Mahal” series, which Ana Crespo’s works exhibited at Casa Árabe form part of. Every Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the evening, you can visit the intervention by this artist. Those members of the public who are interested in getting the chance to meet with the artist can sign up by calling in advance, at the telephone number 639829207. The next meet-up with the artist will be held on February 24 at 7:30 p.m. during Madrid’s Art Week.

About the series “Taj Mahal”
“To evoke the gaze of love, inseparable from perception and visionary revelation, I found inspiration in the Taj Mahal: a history of love and unveiling. The Taj Mahal’s design was inspired by Ibn Arabi’s “vision” of paradise. That paradise is revealed at every instant in the act of contemplation. The Taj Mahal is a symbol of the feminine principle existing among human beings regardless of gender, upon their unveiling. Sheets of paper dance together, connecting different levels of space through which many ‘veils of light’ flow.  It is a powerful yet delicate dance of lighted architectures.”
Ana Crespo.
