Eduardo López Busquets, new Ambassador of Spain in Iran

Casa Árabe's current director will continue to hold his position until early September.

The General Director of Casa Árabe, Eduardo López Busquets, has been named Ambassador of Spain in the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Council of Ministers, at its meeting held on Friday, July 17.

DG - Lopez BusquetsBorn in Valencia on July 9, 1957, López Busquets has a degree in Law from the University of Valencia and a Master’s degree in International Politics from the Free University of Brussels.

López-Busquets has been stationed at the Spanish diplomatic offices in Colombia, Iran, the Atlantic Alliance and Algeria. He has been the Sub-director General for Cooperation with Central, Eastern and Western Africa of the Spanish International Cooperation Agency, an advisor for the Cabinet of the Ministry of Defense, an advisor for the International Department of the Presidency of the Government and an advisor for the Analysis and Forecasting Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. In July 2004, he was named the counselor in charge of Political Affairs at the Embassy of Spain in Mexico, and in March 2006 the Director General of Informational and Institutional Relations of the Office of the Curator of the International Exposition of Zaragoza 2008. In June 2009, he was named Spain’s Ambassador to the Republic of Mozambique, and since 2012 he has been the General Director of Casa Árabe, a position which he will continue to hold until early September.
