Attending the opening event were Joumane Zahlan, the Acting Ambassador of Lebanon in Spain, Alfonso Gentil Álvarez Ossario, University Internationalization Director of the Ministry of Education, and Arouba Ousseiran, Director of Alumni Relations, who arrived directly from Beirut for this event.

One of this association’s goals is to uphold the university’s image as an academically important, respected and relevant center of learning with a history of more than 150 years, and more than 61,000 former students throughout the world. This alumni community grows each year with more than 1,600 graduates originating from 60 different countries, in a wide range of professional fields.

Amongst its objectives in Spain, the association plans to establish frequent collaborative work with Casa Árabe, which it considers to be the center “for all those who love Arab culture; the perfect place for cultural and educational exchanges between Spain and Lebanon.”
