Spain and Oman established diplomatic relations in 1972, marking the beginning of cooperation which has grown stronger over the decades. In 2004, Spain opened its embassy in Muscat, and two years later Oman had appointed its first ambassador to Madrid. Since then, both countries have strengthened their political and economic contacts, holding rounds of bilateral consultations and cooperating in sectors such as water management, renewable energy, tourism and trade.
The Omani Lawyers Association (OLA) is the professional bar association in Oman, established in 2007. As a non-profit association, it represents the profession before the authorities and society, channeling its activities through committees specializing in training, professional development, gender equality, professional affairs and legislative innovation.
