Casa Árabe helps celebrate the 850th anniversary of Ibn Arabi’s birth

From January 17, 2015 until January 18, 2015
BARCELONA

Throughout 2015, the MIAS LATINA association has organized a wide range of events

All next year, MIAS LATINA (Muyiddin Iban Arabi Society Latina) will be holding a wide range of events to commemorate the 850th anniversary of the birth of this Sufi mystic, thinker and poet, who was one of the greatest spiritual leaders in history. As we now know, Ibn Arabi was born in the Murcia of Al-Andalus in the year of 1165 A.D., and his works have held an enormous influence in the entire Islamic world, having been spread throughout the world during the whole last century.

Casa Árabe has signed on to give its support, as have the Municipal Government of Murcia, the Puertas de Castilla Center and other domestic and foreign entities cooperating on this commemoration.

On the dates of January 17-18, the First International MIAS-Latina Symposium will be taking place in Barcelona, with the title “850th Anniversary of the Birth of Ibn Arabi: Ibn Arabi in a dialogue with thinking and the arts.” The full program of this symposium can be found in this PDF document and by following this link

On this website, we will soon be announcing further activities to be held during the year of 2015 at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid and Cordoba in relation with this same commemoration.
