TICKETS SOLD OUT. The theatrical company Tyl Tyl is staging the show "Ribat" as part of Madrid's May 2nd celebrations.

Given the rave reviews the show received two years ago, Casa Árabe has decided to schedule the show “Ribat” once again, with a theatrical performance for children aged two years and older, put on by the group Tyl Tyl as part of Madrid’s May 2nd celebrations.

Ribat tells the story of a three-year-old boy who lives with his parents in a little house from which they can see the desert on one side and the sea on the other. His father gets up one morning, tells the boy he is going to work very far away and gives him a bag of dates. He tells his son, “You must eat one date every day, and I will be back before you have finished them all.” He gives his son a big hug and sets off.

This marks the beginning of a play acted out as an experience for the senses. Actress Pury Estalayo, through the use of objects, sounds and even the space which she has created, along with Sudanese musician Wafir Shaihkeddin Gibril, who adds the sounds of the Arab oud, daff, nai and singing, recreates the atmosphere of water and sand with their silent moments filled with experiences for the senses. The stagecraft, designed by Walter Canevaro, opens up viewers’ perspective on the form and color of the landscape with excellent artistic quality. In the end, the audience is given a surprise by the performers. In this play, Tyl Tyl uses a simple narrative style to delve deep into the body of the narrator and the character of the child (Ribat), who creates a world of his own despite his everyday difficulties. And it is that creation which keeps giving him the momentum he needs to go on living life.
