For yet another year, Casa Árabe takes part in this musical gathering, with the Mediterranean flamenco concert “El Amir”

“El Amir” Mediterranean Flamenco is giving a concert based on the tradition of flamenco, above all flamenco’s most orthodox foundations and pillars. The show combines vocals, dancing and guitar and will be enriched with instruments that add other touches of sound, including the violin, bass, percussion instruments and flute, drawing the audience closer to the Eastern Mediterranean with the Greek bouzouki, Turkish saz and Arabic oud. With these features, it creates a distinctive fusion, making it possible to provide a different viewpoint on flamenco music, enriching it and making it even grander.

The concert is divided into several parts to demonstrate the three facets of flamenco guitar: solo guitar, and guitar with both singing and dancing accompaniment.

It is a concert that will start out full-bodied and grow in intensity as it continues. Beginning with a solo guitarist, the other musicians and performers will gradually join the performance until the full cast is on stage. “El Amir” gracefully introduces the Mediterranean instruments by overlapping compositions of its own, with their Eastern fusion flair, and more traditional flamenco arrangements.

Performers
Amir John Haddad, known as “El Amir” (flamenco guitar, Greek bouzouki, Arabic oud, Turkish saz) is an excellent flamenco guitarist, as well as a multi-ethnic, multi-faceted musician who plays many different instruments. He is of German, Palestinian and Colombian origin and has been playing the guitar since the age of seven. Amir is well-known in today’s flamenco scene for his personality, maturity, sound and personal style. For ten years, has played the Arabic oud for Radio Tarifa, as well as accompaniments for singing and dancing by many of the most cutting-edge flamenco performers in our country.

Eva Durán (flamenco vocals) has had flamenco and music running through her veins since she was just a child. She studied music fundamentals and Spanish classical dance and flamenco. She has performed on many different stages throughout the world, with Manolo Sanlúcar, Joaquín Cortés, Vicente Amigo, Gerardo Núñez, Javier Barón, Joaquín Grilo, and more. Her versatility, quality and experience have put her flamenco and other musical vocals in high demand for many different projects.

Raúl Márquez (violin). A violin virtuoso and composer, Márquez is a tireless musician from the melodic worlds and an exceptional performer. A flamenco artist by inspiration, he adds a world full of endless influences. He has worked with Diego “El Cigala,” Rafael Amargo, Joaquín Cortés, Antonio Canales, Jorge Pardo, Concha Jareño, Lole Montoya, Jesús de Rosario, Gerardo Núñez, Carmen Cortés, Joaquín Ruiz, “Los Losada,” Joselillo Romero, Inma and Domingo Ortega, Antonio and Manuel Reyes, Compañía de Rafael Aguilar, Suite Española, Alfonso Losa, Guadiana, El Niño Joséle, La Aurora, José Luís Montón, José Porcell, Talegón de Córdoba, and others.

Jesús Bachiller “Bachi” (bass) is responsible for the group’s masterful bass repertoire, with his style of fine-tuned, inventive, well-grounded bass playing. With a lengthy career despite his youth, he is currently working with Juan Carmona, the flamenco guitarist nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards for the fourth time, and with Diego Guerrero, Manu Masaedo “23” and Pepe Luis Carmona Habichuela, as well as preparing his upcoming album with original songs focusing on the electric bass and flamenco.

Kike Terrón (percussion), a specialist in the flamenco cajón since the age of 16, currently forms part of the company Rojas y Rodríguez Nuevo Ballet Español. He has traveled to the most important theaters in the world with different shows and is the main feature in the show “Momentos” by Guadalupe Torres, David Coria and Jonatan Miró, combining all of this with other music and dance projects.

Guest performers:
Joaquín Ruiz (dance), because of his career in dance, shares very similar musical concerns, being the only flamenco dancer able to mimic the Eastern-Mediterranean-flamenco language with perfection, as he has demonstrated on many occasions with his group Caravana.

Jorge Pardo (flute) is one of Spain’s most versatile national flute virtuosos. He is an international reference for our flamenco music, jazz and fusions. He has collaborated on the recording of the album “Dos” by the Mediterranean music group “Zoobazar,” of which Amir John Haddad is the main composer.

Pepe Justicia (flamenco guitar), one of the greater guitar masters, has proven he has a path of his own. A greater composer and performer, he possesses a natural force when playing the guitar and is a great communicator. In addition to teaching others, he has been a master for “El Amir,” making his participation on the stage always highly special and enriching.

Repertoire:
The works performed are compositions created by Amir John Haddad, forming part of the list of works on his first album “Pasando por Tabernas,” his second album “9 Guitarras” and new compositions as of yet unpublished, as well as songs from his albums “Uno” and “Dos” with the group Zoobazar.
