Egipto tras la barricada, by Marc Almodóvar

Journalist Marc Almodóvar is presenting his book Egipto tras la barricada. Revolución y contrarrevolución más allá de Tahrir (Egypt Behind the Barricade: Revolution and Counter-revolution Beyond Tahrir) on Thursday, April 3. Published in Catalan and Spanish by the publishing firm Virus, this work examines the political and social events which have marked current affairs in the country throughout the last three years of mobilizations. Participating in the event, in addition to the author, will be Olga Rodríguez, a journalist and the author of Yo muero hoy: Las revueltas en el mundo árabe (I Die Today. The Riots in the Arab World). Presenting the discussion is Nuria Medina, coordinator of Casa Árabe’s Culture and New Media area.

This event is taking place at 7:00 p.m. in the Madrid auditorium (at Calle Alcalá, 62). Free entry until the event’s capacity is reached.

Marc Almodóvar

A journalist and documentary maker, Almodóvar has worked as a correspondent in Egypt for El Punt-Avui and regularly writes for the newspapers Directa and Diagonal. Since 2008 he has lived in Egypt, following the political and social protest movements there, especially those related with workers and anti-repression movements. He is the author of the audiovisual works Mujeres que valen por cien hombres (Women Who Are Worth One Hundred Men) and Erhal-Vete (Leave).
