Jawher Soudani is, first and foremost, an urban artist known as VAJO, a maker of colorful murals on the streets of Tunis. His presence at Casa Árabe is occurring on the occasion of his performance in the film which is being screened on Friday, October 27 as part of the institution’s film schedule for this fall.

“The Last of Us” by Ala Eddine Slim (Tunisia, 2016, 94 min.) is Jawher Soudani’s first experience as an actor. The film has earned important awards like the one for Best First Film (Mostra di Venezia, 2016), Best First Feature Film (Carthage Film Festival in Tunisia, 2016) and Best Arab Film (FCAT - African Film Festival of Tarifa, 2017). His participation in the movie occurred because of meetings which took place between him and the director Ala Eddine Slim at various events involving the dynamic cultural and artistic life being experienced in Tunisia today, a phenomenon of which they are both fine representatives.

Taking advantage of a trip to Madrid, Jawher Soudani (Vajo) is also participating in the Brief Graphic Design Festival on Saturday, October 28 at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque, where he will be giving a talk on his practice as an artist and graphic designer.
