Casa Árabe and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) have organized this summer course from September 6 to 8. You may now register and apply for scholarships.

The objective of this course, directed by professors Ana Isabel Planet (UAM) and Miguel Hernando de Larramendi (UCLM), is to provide up-to-date knowledge and thought on the main topics in today’s geopolitical situation in the Mediterranean. During the course, special attention will be placed on the processes of political change which have taken place since 2011, as well as the conflicts that have not been resolved and the need for action to put an end to the resulting humanitarian and political crises.  The overview includes a general framework for the region, from regional economic policy, international relations and Spain’s role in the region to reflections revolving around recent occurrences in Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey and Syria. The topics for debate during the round table discussions include the economy, youth, conflicts and humanitarian crisis.
