Calligrapher Ricardo Vicente Placed is offering this course in Cordoba. Registration begins on January 26.
Casa Árabe is offering this calligraphy course to be given by Ricardo Vicente Placed, in which participants will become familiar with the art of Arabic calligraphy and its different forms. They will receive an introduction to the thuluth style, one of the main classical styles in Arabic writing. They will learn about the proportions of the letters and the rules they follow, as well as the steps which must be taken to complete a final work of calligraphy.
Contents:
• Introduction to traditional teaching methods, from both the Turkish and Arab traditions
• Introduction to materials and learning how to use them properly
• Introduction to the letters and their forms through practical calligraphy exercises
• Preparing a final piece or work in accordance with classical models
The course will be held in four sessions lasting three hours each, on Tuesday, 24th of February through Friday, 27th of February, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The price of the full course is 90 euros, and spaces are limited to 12 people.
The materials required for the workshop (calligraphic pen, ink and paper) will be provided by Casa Árabe, and the participants may keep them when the course has come to an end.
