The great Arab diaspora came into existence a little over one century ago. Since then, it has never stopped growing, becoming increasingly significant because of the sociocultural context in which we are living today and the crises that the region has been experiencing in recent years.
Journey to Our Roots is a show of folklore dances of different origins in the Arab world, staged by AIWAcademy, the first international network of performers who specialize in Arab dances from North Africa to the Middle East. Through this initiative, its founders, Luz El Khazen (Lebanon-Argentina) and Salma Majdalani (Lebanon-Spain) tell us a story about the rich cultural development that the diaspora has undergone as a result of the need to hold onto their identity and the bonds with their cultures of origin.
