Presentation of the book by Lucía Ferreiro Prado

On the date of September 23, Casa Árabe, Casa Mediterráneo and the Dickinson publishing firm have joined forces to present to the public the new work by Lucía Ferreiro, "The Co-existence of Spaniards and Moroccans: The impact of migrations on intercultural relations."

This event will include interventions by the author herself, accompanied by Rafael Calduch Cervera, a professor of International Relations at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and by Ana Planet Contreras, director of the Workshop of International Studies of the Mediterranean (TEIM) at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Presenting the event is Eduardo López Busquets, the General Director of Casa Árabe.

In this book, Ferreiro studies the processes of change which take place in a specific context (the Autonomous Region of Madrid) as a result of the migration process, both among the immigrant population and in the receiving society. Ascertaining what the dynamics of mutual cultural interaction consist of, or in other words, what is rejected about others, what is adapted, and what remains unchanged in one’s own identity is all information essential to improving co-existence in a society like Spain's, characterized by increasing interculturality.

Lucía Ferreiro Prado holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Navarre (2005) and a Master's degree in International Relations and Communication (Universidad Complutense, 2006) and is a specialist in International Security (Gutiérrez Mellado Institute, UNED, 2007). In 2011, she earned the distinction of cum laude on her doctoral thesis (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos). Her lines of research are culture in International Relations, specializing in the Muslim world and European Union policies for promoting democracy.
