in Spain have arranged for this conference in Madrid, to be given by
the Ambassador of Yemen, Mr. Nabil Khaled Maisery.

The armed conflict that began in Yemen four years ago has turned out to be one of the deadliest in recent decades. According to figures published by Amnesty International, over 17,640 have died or been injured, and the humanitarian crisis is affecting approximately 14 million people in the country, who are suffering from food shortages.
At this conference, Yemen’s Ambassador to Spain, Mr. Nabil Khaled Maisery, will be explaining his perspective on the conflict, as well as analyzing the latest events, above all after the Stockholm Agreement (December 2018) and the UN’s efforts to act as a mediator in the conflict.

Ambassador Nabil Khaled Maisery (Aden, December 31, 1955) earned his bachelor’s degree at the School of Economics in Aden, Yemen, and a Master’s degree in International Relations in the United States. In 1983, he joined Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he took the helm of several directories-general. He was the assistant director on the Minister’s cabinet and an assistant dean at the Diplomatic Institute. He has worked at several of his country’s diplomatic missions abroad, including Yemen’s permanent mission to the UN, and the embassies in the Netherlands, Indonesia and India. He was the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs before being appointed Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain in March 2017.
