Registration: Casa Árabe headquarters (at Calle Samuel de los Santos Gener, 9). Monday-Friday from 11:0 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and 4:00-6:30 p.m. Registration: 60 euros. Payment in cash.

Intended for singers and instrumentalists of any technical skill level, taking place from June 15-19 in Cordoba. Registration now open.

The objective of this music workshop is to learn how to improvise and use the modal language freely. The workshop places importance on the educational value of musical improvisation not only as a form of personal or group expression, but also as a way for people to communicate using sounds. Intended for singers and instrumentalists of any technical skill level, taking place from June 15-19 in Cordoba.

Workshop schedule:
•    Theory of Middle Eastern modes
•    Practicing different improvisation techniques
•    Improvisation as a group
•    Solo improvisation
•    Improvisation through dialogue
•    Free-style improvisation
•    Principles of composition through improvisation and play

During the days of the workshop, the students themselves will create works which will be presented at an end-of-course concert taking place on June 19 as part of the “Nights of Ramadan” activities.

A CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE will be given out to those participants who attend and take full advantage of the course.

Professor:
Christos Kanellos Malamás
A musician of Greek origin, his professional background has led him to different parts of the world, where he has acquired a broad scope of training that encompasses music of various styles, such as classical, Greek, Turkish, Arab, hymns from oral tradition, Sephardic music and music from Al-Andalus. A specialist in classical guitar, Middle Eastern signing and performing with different traditional string instruments from around the world, including the saz, bouzouki, vihuela and classical guitar, as well as others.

With experience of more than a decade dedicated to researching, recovering and performing different types of music, as well as the creation of traditional forms of music from the Mediterranean, this professor and educator of educators teaches classes on modal styles of music, Middle Eastern singing, classical guitar and saz, as well as musical, modal, tonal, instrumental and vocal improvisation, using his own methods, in different parts of the world. He has a large number of students in Spain, Greece and France.
