NES consists of three musicians who have brought their talent together on the shores of the Mediterranean. Their sound has arisen from an exploration of the roots and creative experiences of the group’s members. Their songs in English, Arabic and French, filled with elegance and emotion, sail with ease from jazz to soul, Arab music or the French “chanson.” Their first album, Ahlam (“Dreams” in Arabic), recorded and mixed at La Buissonne, France, was published in August of 2018 (“One of the albums of the year,” according to The Times). In Spain, the trio NES has been recommended by the National Theaters and Auditoriums Network, after being showered with praise from the public and critics alike, when it has performed at theaters and festivals all over the Iberian Peninsula. Since its album came out, and after a memorable concert at the Berlin Philharmonic, the group’s international tour has continued across Europe.

Nesrine Belmokh, vocals and cello
Having been born into an Algerian family, music has always played an essential role in Nesrine’s life. Since she was a child, she began to develop her musical talent by singing and playing the mandolin in an Arab-Andalusi orchestra, and she then continued her career in the classical music world as a cello virtuoso. As a cellist, she was selected by Lorin Maazel himself to form part of the Valencia Opera at the Palau de les Arts. She is a member of the West Eastern Divan Orchestra, a project for peace led by Daniel Barenboim. She also collaborates with several music groups internationally, covering a broad range of styles. As a singer and cellist, she starred in a show by the Cirque du Soleil, playing the role of Queen Prospera in the show “Amaluna.” Her career as an artist continues evolving as a composer and creator. Nesrine Belmokh is a Yamaha artist.

David Gadea, percussion
David has put his percussion to work for internationally renowned performers such as Sole Giménez, Ximo Tébar, Manu Tenorio, Josemi Carmona and Thaïs Morell, as well as others. These collaborations with such a wide range of groups have allowed him to play in a large number of countries across the globe and to take part in countless recordings. David’s style is immediately identifiable due to the very characteristic diversity of his palette of sound colors. This combination of subtlety, strength and musicality allows him to create a very rich style.

Matthieu Saglio, cello
Matthieu, the “cellist with a thousand accents,” has become better known as a top-level cellist with an atypical, very personal profile. Throughout his many projects, by allowing his cello to sound like no other, he has gradually opened up new paths for his instrument, venturing his way into flamenco, jazz Arab-Andalusi music, African music, etc. With his main music groups (Jerez Texas, Cello Solo, Diouke, etc.), with which he is often also a composer, he has given concerts in more than 30 countries. Enriched by this diversity, Matthieu adds a unique, unclassifiable style of expression to NES’s compositions.
