In her presentation, Eliane Ortega Bernabéu will be discussing the topic of Spanish Republicans who were exiled to Algeria in 1939, an unknown chapter in our contemporary history that deserves more in-depth study.

She will analyze notable episodes, such as the departure from Alicante known as the “Final Disbanding,” the dramatic crossing of boats until reaching the coast of Algeria, their arrival in Oran and the existence of concentration camps and death camps.

The event will be presented by historian Cristina Cazorla Herrero, from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
