The daily spiritual experience during the month of Ramadan

June 12, 20177:00 p.m.
MADRID
Casa Árabe Auditorium (at Calle Alcalá, 62). 7:00 p.m. Free entry until the event’s capacity is reached.

Casa Árabe and the Council for the Moroccan Communities Abroad have organized this conference by Sanaa El Aziri as part of the Nights of Ramadan Festival given by the Municipal Government of Madrid.

What distinguishes the daily life of a Muslim during the month of Ramadan, and what makes it different from other months? What difficulties do Muslims experience when celebrating the month of Ramadan in a country without a Muslim majority? Sanaa El Aziri, with a PhD in Spanish Linguistics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, will be analyzing the daily experience of Ramadan lived by Muslims in Spain. She will also be speaking about this celebration from the perspective of its ethnic, cultural and religious diversity, as well as its status as an “inner” experience in terms of both spirituality and co-existence with the community.

Sanaa El Aziri (Meknes, 1974)
With a degree in Hispanic Philology from the University of Fez, she earned her PhD in Spanish Linguistics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in the year of 2006.
