The figure of Murcia native Ibn ‘Arabī (1165-1240)  stands out because of the immense magnitude of his work (over three hundred volumes for which his authorship has been acknowledged) and the depth and breadth of his thought, which has been described as a bottomless sea without shores. Using some of his fundamental texts as a starting point, taken mainly from his monumental work The Meccan Illuminations, this book by Fernando Mora takes a profound look at essential aspects of his thought, including the structure of holiness, spiritual reading of the Qur’an, the classical distinction between “essence” and “non-essence,” and the important notions of constant creation and non-duality, which lend evidence that “the greatest of all teachers,” as he is also known, deserves an honorable place not only in the history of Sufism, but also in the cultural and spiritual history of our country and the entire world.

The book’s presentation is being held in conjunction with the exhibition “The Nocturnal Star,” an homage by artist Cristóbal Martín to Ibn Arabi. The exhibition includes iron sculptures, drawings and installations made using various materials such as glass and metal and can be seen. in Casa Árabe’s Hall of Columns until October 20.
