“Patterns & Mobiles” creative workshop

Taught by Moroccan artist Amina Agueznay, the workshop will be held in July at the Factoría Cultural.

July 01, 2015
MADRID
The goal of this workshop is to bring together 30 Spanish artists and designers who will discover patterns and symbols in Moroccan art that are unfamiliar to them, from architectural features to symbols used to design rugs in different regions throughout Morocco.  All of this is explained with the experience and from the contemporary perspective which Amina Agueznay has gradually acquired in the most rural and traditional parts of Morocco.

The workshop will be given on the dates of July 17, 18 and 19 at the Factoría Cultural (Matadero Madrid). To sign up, you must send an e-mail message to fusionculturas@gmail.com.

During this series of training sessions, the participants will each be separately constructing a three-dimensional mobile installation. Afterwards, each individual work will be integrated with the others to form a monumental group installation prepared for viewing by hundreds of visitors.

The event “HouMa” (“Them”), conceived by FusiónCulturas, combines three forms of artistic expression in which the main role is played by Moroccan women: contemporary dance (“Madame Plaza,” by Bouchra Ouizguen); cinema (“Rock the Casbah,” by Laila Marrakchi) and art (“Patterns & Mobiles”). The events will be held from July 17 through 25 in Madrid and have been given the support of Matadero Madrid (Frinje15 Festival, Cineteca and Factoría Cultural) and that of Casa Árabe.
