Agreement between Casa Árabe and the Cervantes Institute

Casa Árabe’s General Director, Irene Lozano, and the Director of the Cervantes Institute, Luis García Montero, signed an agreement within the framework of the Frankfurt Book Fair on October 22.

The purpose of the agreement is to achieve cooperation in promoting Spanish language and culture in the Arab and Muslim world. The general protocol specifies that the Cervantes Institute and Casa Árabe “will be able to undertake special collaboration by organizing conferences, forums, meetings and other type of events on the teaching of Spanish and the dissemination of Spanish culture” in these countries.

More specifically, they may arrange meetings between Hispanists and experts in Arab and Islamic Studies, cultural and academic initiatives focusing on the past and present relations between Spain and the Arab and Muslim world, the co-publishing of bilingual works in the Arab and Muslim arena, the promotion of Casa Árabe’s publications and activities through the Cervantes Institute’s centers in Arab and Muslim world countries, and other miscellaneous activities intended for the Arab population in Spain.
