Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid, the building which housed the former Aguirre Schools, has had a larger garden-filled pedestrian space surrounding it since the month of September.

The works, begun by the Municipal Government of Madrid in late June 2014, were carried out in order to improve the former layout and remove architectural barriers so as to optimize the conditions for use of these public walkways.

The work meant relocating two pedestrian crossings located on Alcalá and O’Donnell Streets, which nearly coincide with the side entrances to the Aguirre Schools, the removal of a lane of traffic where cars used to change direction, located in front of the Aguirre Schools’ main façade, and the creation of a new garden area integrated into the new pedestrian space.

Thanks to this, Casa Árabe’s headquarters, which is located across from Madrid’s Retiro Park, has had its pedestrian and garden areas expanded, facilitating access and movement by the people who come to attend its activities.
