Iraqi musician Naseer Shamma is a world-renowned virtuoso who was born where the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers flow together, to the south of Baghdad. His instrument is the Arabic oud, and French music critics have given him the name of “the new Ziryab,” in reference to that great musician from Al-Andalus. Naseer Shamma possesses unique musical talent and performs emotionally moving compositions before the most important audiences in the world. In his new project, Naseer Shamma uses the Arabic oud to dialogue with other instruments, under the title “The Journey of Souls,” combining a wide range of styles to create sublime, stirring music.
