Construction of 500 homes in East Jerusalem
Spain regrets and condemns the decision by Israeli authorities to move
forward with the construction of five hundred new homes in East
Jerusalem.

The Spanish government believes that this type of unilateral action tends to make the future formation of a Palestinian State less feasible and that it is therefore not coherent with Israel's formal commitment to negotiate with the Palestinians in order to achieve a peaceful, global, permanent solution on the basis of the two-state principle.
Once again, Spain has given a reminder of its position on the illegal nature of all the settlements, which the rest of the international community shares.
