This edition of the Twiza Festival will be offering the public a varied schedule of activities which pay homage to the continent of Africa. The musical section will include renowned national and international performers, such as Ithrane, Cheb Mami, Ismael Lô, Idir and Muslim. Moreover, there will be a series of conferences, debates and round table discussions which, under the title of “Africa for Africans,” will take a closer look at the continent’s cultural development and de-globalization.

The Tizwa Festival, the objective of which is to offer the public a closer look at Amazigh, or Berber, culture, along with opening up to other national and international cultures, is the city’s only festival which is 100% free and is mainly celebrated outdoors, on the beach of Tangier and on the boulevard located at the seaside.

The main stage will be located in the “Jardins de la Corniche” (in the area around the seaside walkway), whereas the other events, such as the conferences, round table talks and screenings of films and documentaries, will be held at emblematic sites throughout the city.

A second stage will be located in the environs of the Free Trade Zone, in the district of Gzenaya, with a third stage placed in the large city square of Beni Makada. The Berber “khaima” named the “Choukri kShaima” will be located in Place 9 avril, in the Great Souk of Tangier. It will host several round table discussions. Just across the street, Tangier’s Cinematheque will be hosting the festival’s film section.
