José Manuel García-Margallo receives his Egyptian counterpart 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation met with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Hassan Shoukry Selim.

 The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation held a work meeting with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Hassan Shoukry Selim, in Madrid on September 16, who was taking part in the conference on stability and development in Libya held on September 17 in Madrid, as well. 

The Ministers reviewed the countries’ bilateral relations in different realms, with a special focus on economic affairs, tourism and archeological cooperation.

They also addressed the most pressing international matters, above all in the regions of the Near East and North Africa, as well as global topics such as the fight against terrorism.

Regarding relations between Egypt and the European Union, García-Margallo reiterated Spain’s support for strengthening these ties, not only within the framework of the current Association Agreement, but also by moving ahead on more ambitious objectives.
