Screenings of “Two Meters of This Land” 

The only Palestinian film made in 2012 can be seen in Madrid and Barcelona

 Two Meters of This Land (Palestinian Territories, 2012), is the first feature-length film directed by Spanish-Palestinian director Ahmad Natche. The movie was filmed completely in Ramallah with performances by non-professional actors. To complete the post-production stage, a crowdfunding  campaign was launched on the Internet.
The first screening in Madrid is being held at the Cines Princesa on September 19 at 10:00 p.m. and will include the presence of the director and part of the team that made the film. On this occasion, the film can be seen for a special price of 5.50 euros. Moreover, as of September 24, there will be three sessions per day each Wednesday, at the Cinestudio del Círculo de Bellas Artes. At the same time, the film is being shown at the Zumzeig Cinema in Barcelona (showtimes can be seen here).

Plot summary:

“Two meters of this land would be enough for me,” wrote Palestinian poet Mahmud Darwich. Very close to his grave in Ramallah on a summer’s afternoon, a music festival is being prepared at an open-air theater and will be broadcast on television.

Biography and films of director Ahmad Natche:

Born in Seville (1974) of Palestinian descent, Natche earned a degree in Image and Sound. Having studied the specialization of Editing at the International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV), in Cuba. 
In Cuba, he directed El extranjero (The Foreigner, 2000), named Best Short-subject Fiction Film at the FAD Awards in Barcelona, according to a jury presided over by Joaquín Jordá. 
As a film editor, he received an Ícaro Award for Querido Camilo (Dear Camilo, 2007), by Julio Molina and Daniel Ross, also considered to be the best Central American documentary film of 2007 at the same festival.  In 2008, he began to prepare his first feature-length film, Two Meters of This Land (2012) in the Palestinian city of Ramallah. It was premiered at the International Competition of FIDMarseille and was awarded with a special mention by the jury. He has had many film reviews published in Spanish (signing with a Spanish version of his name: Jaime Natche).
