The artist Miss Raisa is returning to Casa Árabe in Madrid on Wednesday 14 December to present her latest work, published by Planeta de Libros. It is a manifesto against any kind of discrimination.

The story begins in 2004, when Miss Raisa, born in Morocco, emigrated to Barcelona with her parents and siblings. She was but an eight-year-old girl leaving her country and people behind, but to the world she had become an immigrant, and she would never cease being one. Without speaking Spanish or Catalan, she soon had to face a society that did not accept where she came from. And that was not the only discrimination she endured: as she grew up, she was outcast for wearing a veil, for not adapting to Spanish customs; by the Muslim community, for adapting to them too much; for being a woman in a man’s world, for rap music.
In this book, the activist artist looks back and tells us how that little girl grew up to become an adult, challenging and overcoming each and every one of the prejudices that she has encountered along the way. Today, Miss Raisa is a free, proud and empowered. Above all else, she is committed to making this world a better place.
This is her life, this is her manifesto.
Imane Raissali Salah, better known as “Miss Raisa,” was born in Tangier, Morocco in 1996 and has lived in Barcelona since 2004. She is a psychology student, singer, content creator, writer and communicator. Since 2019, she has been composing music within the hip-hop movement. A committed, highly active author, she writes as a way to fight against stereotypes and increase the visibility of issues affecting her in her own everyday life, including racism, religion, gender, freedom of expression and unequal opportunities. She does so with originality, sensitivity and optimism, connecting with a global audience, especially younger generations. She has had the poetry book Pondré los colores (“I’ll Add the Colors,” Montena, 2022) published and received the TikTok Diversity and both the Inclusion Award (2021) and the Continuarà de Cultura Award (2022).
