"From Qurtuba to Córdoba" in Jerusalem
From November 21, 2013 until December 15, 2013
Casa Árabe, with the cooperation of Spain’s Consulate General in Jerusalem, Al-Quds University and the Centre for Jerusalem Studies, is putting on the photography exhibition "From Qurtuba to Córdoba" at the Hammam Al-Ayn Centre for Jerusalem Studies.
The opening event will take place on Wednesday, November 20 at 6:00 p.m. and will be open to the city’s public until December 20.
The exhibition is made up of a selection of 50 photographs from the Photographic Competition “From Qurtuba to Córdoba,” held by Casa Árabe with the goal of rediscovering and finding new appreciation, through photography, of the local heritage related with the Al-Andalus period, so that the public can view the marks left behind on the city of Cordoba by its Arab and Islamic legacy through the camera lens.
All of the snapshots’ themes revolve around the seven categories into which the competition was divided: Aljama Mosque and environs; Madinat al-Zahra; City Walls, City Gates, fortified towers and urban fabric; Minarets; Arab Baths; the Mudejar style; and freely chosen topics.
This exhibition is on tour through the Gulf countries, having already been shown in Doha, Qatar, and Jeddah and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
