"Perspectives on Fiction" in Barcelona
From October 04, 2013 until October 10, 2013
We are renewing our cooperation with the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) at the third edition of CINEDebates, an interesting event with fictional films, the goal of which is to show stories that reflect the realities of Arab countries, in addition to increasing awareness of film works which are difficult to access despite their quality.
Four films will be screened, from Morocco, Iraq, Lebanon and Egypt, dealing with very different topics. From such an important, modern-day focus as that of youth and social exclusion in Morocco, to a tale about post-war Iraq. A film from Lebanon has also been included, telling the story of a man’s solitude in the city of Tripoli. The series ends with a work by a filmmaker of renowned prestige, Yousry Nasrallah, who takes us to Egypt to tell us about one of the most hotly debated episodes in the country’s recent history, the 18 days which led up to the Mubarak regime’s downfall, and especially the “Battle of the Camels” in Tahrir Square.
All of the screenings will be taking place at the IEMed headquarters (address: Calle Girona, 20) at 7:00 p.m. Free entrance until the event’s capacity is full.
