Casa Árabe is collaborating on the 2026/27 season of this initiative, organized by the Córdoba Municipal Library Network, which combines the magic of book clubs with the charm of literary walks. Check below for the dates of the next reading and tour. Sign up and join us.
This season, Casa Árabe is collaborating on seven of the 13 literary routes through Córdoba, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the Al-Andalus era through works by various authors set during that period.
The following books will be discussed: "The Surgeon of Al-Andalus" by Antonio Cavanillas de Blas (October); "Ibn Hazm’s Córdoba" by Daniel Valdivieso Ramos (November); "Wallada: The Last Moon" by Matilde Cabello (January); "The Light of Medina" by Emma Lira (February); "The Caliphate of Córdoba" by Eduardo Manzano (March); "The Ambassador of Medina Azahara" by Mª Amor and Javier Martín Fernández (April); and "The Sages of Qurtuba" by Virginia Luque Gallegos (June).
The literary walks offer leisurely tours following an itinerary that highlights the landmarks mentioned in a book or that serve as its setting. Throughout the tour, excerpts from the text associated with the exact locations that inspired the author are read and discussed. The activity is coordinated and led by Matilde Cabello and Máximo Ortega.

Pre-reading:
Accepted participants must read the book before the tour. They will be contacted by phone or email to pick up the book, which will be loaned by the library.
.
Meeting and Tour:
The tours will take place on a Saturday morning. The day before (Friday), a preparatory meeting will be held to discuss the book.
Special Events:
Whenever possible, we will invite the book’s author to participate in the meeting and/or the literary tour.
Free Activity:
Participation is completely free. All you need is a User Card from the Andalusian Public Library Network, which you can request for free at the time of registration.
Capacity:
To ensure a rewarding experience, the group must be small; otherwise, it would be difficult to hear the explanations or move freely through the city streets. Therefore, the maximum capacity is 15 people per walk.

The general registration period for the program begins on Monday, September 14, at 10:00 a.m., but registration will open on a monthly basis for each specific tour.
To ensure equal opportunity and the smooth operation of the program, the allocation of spots will be governed by the following rules:
- Preference for new participants: Priority will be given to the first 15 people who register and have not previously participated in any tour.
- First-come, first-served basis and waiting list: Spots will be awarded strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Those not included in the initial allocation will automatically be placed on a waiting list to fill any cancellations by those who were admitted.
- Book pickup: The book will be distributed approximately 30 days before the tour. Those who do not pick up the book by the specified dates will lose their spot.
- Commitment to attend: Failure to attend the tour without prior notice will result in the loss of a spot on future tours.
