“When Evening Falls” takes us on a musical journey along the shores of the Mediterranean, weaving together musical traditions from Algeria and the Middle East with repertoires that evoke the cultural memory of Al-Andalus. Through an intimate and nuanced performance, Neila Benbey revives melodies, rhythms and poems that bridge different time periods and geographies, creating a space where Arab, Berber and Al-Andalus heritages converge. The program also includes a moving tribute to the female poets of Al-Andalus, whose voices resonate in songs that celebrate the sensitivity, beauty and creative power of women in the cultural history of the Mediterranean.
On stage, Neila Benbey will be accompanied by Kurdish musician Gani Mirzo on the Arabic oud and Juan José Barreda on flamenco guitar.
