Africa 2020: Transformation, mobilization and continuity

September 09, 202005:00 p.m.
ONLINE
05:00 p.m.
In Spanish.

Casa Árabe is cooperating with Fundación Alternativas for the presentation of this report, which will be held online on Wednesday, September 9 at 5:00 p.m.

Fundación Alternativas is presenting this report which, while taking into account the changing situation caused by the pandemic, attempts to distance itself somewhat in order to shed light on the underlying dynamics on the continent of Africa, as well as realities rarely analyzed in public debate, as is the case with communities from Africa and of African descent in Spain.

The impact of COVID-19 on that continent has been considerable in several arenas, especially economics, but also in terms of social dynamics. However, the pandemic has not brought everything to a halt, and on certain occasions it has even aroused forms of discontent which could eventually form a catalyst for domestic dynamics leading to future transformations. If anything has been demonstrated in this volume (as in the preceding edition), it is that nothing has been written in stone about the continent of Africa.

At this presentation event, to be held online, the following individuals will be participating:

- Cristina Gallach, State Secretary of Foreign Affairs and for Iberian America and the Cristina Gallach
- José Segura Clavell, Director of Casa África
- Pedro Martínez-Avial, Director of Casa Árabe
- Diego López Garrido, Executive Vice-President of Fundación Alternativas

Also attending the event will be the report’s coordinators:

- Itxaso Domínguez de Olazábal, coordinator of the Panel on the Near East and North Africa at Fundación Alternativas
- Elsa Aimé González, coordinator of the Panel on Sub-Saharan Africa at Fundación Alternativas

The presentation will be broadcast online. Further information coming soon.
