Screening of a film by Yasemin Samdereli in Cordoba

After 45 years living in Germany as a Turkish “Gastarbeiter” (guest worker), Hüseyin Yilmaz, who has just turned 70, announces to his family that he has bought a house in Turkey and that they all have to return with him to help do the necessary refurbishments. The idea is not at all appealing to the family, so they enter into heated arguments.

As if this were not enough, Canan, one of Hüseyin’s granddaughters, announces that she is pregnant and that the father is her English boyfriend, whom Hüseyin knew nothing about. To console her six-year-old cousin, who was treated like a “foreigner” on his first day of school, Canan decides to tell him the astonishing story about how they all ended up in Germany despite not being German.
