Arab Emigrants Day

Casa Árabe and the League of Arab States are organizing the celebration of Arab Emigrants Day on December 18 in Madrid. The event will be taking place at the Casa Árabe headquarters in Madrid (at Calle Alcalá, 62). 
The event begins at 7:30 p.m. with a welcoming speech given by Eduardo López Busquets, the General Director of Casa Árabe, and Mohammed Hanèche, Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and dean of the Group of Arab Ambassadors accredited in Spain.

Following this, Hassine Bouzid, Ambassador and Mission Chief of the League of Arab States in Madrid, will be speaking about “The importance placed upon Arab migrants by the League of Arab States”, and Mohammed Dahiri, a professor at the University of Cádiz, on “The role of Migration in the consolidation of Arab-Spanish relations”.

When the event comes to an end, homage will be paid to two notable members of the Arab community residing in Spain and to one association:

- Mr. El Hassen Belarbi (Morocco). Professor and Researcher at the University of Almería. Vice-President of the national platform “Intellectuals and professionals of Moroccan origin in Spain (PIPROM)” and the “Acebuche” Socio-cultural Association (ASCUDA). President of the Federation of Moroccan Associations in Almería (FAMA).

- Mr. Nazmi Yousef Salsaa (Jordanian-Palestinian). A journalist, the President of the Association of Arab Journalists and Writers in Spain, and a member of the International Press Club. 

- The Spanish Catholic Commission-Association for Migration.

This activity will be held in Arabic with simultaneous translation. Free entry until the event’s capacity is reached.
