The Planeta Gala International Booktrailers Contest is a unique opportunity for Spanish-language video creators, rewarding this type of creative work, which has become an essential tool for increasing awareness about literature in the media, social networks and the Internet in general. At this second edition, dozens of submissions were received, including video summaries of the essence of the books they were based upon. They do so in a very brilliant way in every facet of the work, from the script to the quality of the actors taking part in them. If the ultimate goal of a booktrailer is to awaken the viewers’ interest in reading a book, all of the participants at the Second

International Planeta Gala Booktrailer Contest have certainly gone above and beyond achieving it. Joining in on the commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the Planeta Award for “The Crimson Manuscript,” Casa Árabe is hosting the exhibition and awards ceremony for the three winning booktrailers at this second edition of the contest:

- “La niña del bosque” (“The Girl from the Woods”), by David Dévora.
- “Septem,” by Rocío Juárez.
- “La sombra de Gibola” (“Gibola’s Shadow”), by Ane Odriozola.

After the awards ceremony and a viewing of the winning booktrailers, the audience will get the chance to enjoy the Al Maqam group and the concert “Al-Andalus: The keys of memory,” a tribute to writer Antonio Gala and the huge mark he left behind on our culture.

The Antonio Gala Foundation
The Antonio Gala Foundation is a private, non-profit institution devoted to promoting artistic creation. Founded by writer Antonio Gala in the city of Cordoba, its headquarters is in the Corpus Christi Convent, built in the seventeenth century. It supports young creators by awarding one-year residency grants. The Foundation is a synthesis of Antonio’s work and his way of understanding art and culture; it is the summary of a way to understand human relations and the creative process, meant to endure across time. In terms of its philosophy and way of taking action, the Foundation is a realistic compendium of the good practices and best habits that should form part of every artist’s routine. The brilliant careers of many of the nearly three hundred creators who have lived inside the institution’s walls in its first twenty years of existence has resulted from its successful approach, as attested to by the countless nationally and internationally important awards won by the Foundation’s residents.

Planeta Gala is the interactive television platform run by the Antonio Gala Foundation for Young Creators. Its mission is to give continuity in the online world to the work to promote creativity and culture which the institution has been pursuing for more than twenty years.
