As of November 26, Casa Árabe is presenting four new and very

Lebanese graphic artist Lena Mehrej and Moroccan writer Mahi Binebine,
as well as presenting two books on the shari’a and jihad, and on
Spanish-Palestinian relations.
The Lebanese artist Lena Mehrej will be our first guest. In Madrid on November 26, she will be presenting her graphic novel Yogurt with Marmalade. Or how my mother became Lebanese (published by Ediciones del Oriente y del Mediterráneo). Mehrej will also be holding a dialogue with graphic novelist Quan Zhou, author of Sweet-and-sour Gazpacho.
One day later, on Tuesday, November 27, we will be discussing Islam with a professor from the Universidad Autónoma, Luz Gómez, who is presenting her book Between Shari’a and Jihad: An intellectual history of Islamism (published by Los Libros de la Catarata). Participating in the event with the author will be Laura Galián, a researcher in Arab Studies at the University of Granada, and Carlos Cañete, a professor of Arab Studies at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
On Wednesday, the time will come to discuss politics, with the presentation of Between Spain and Palestine: A critical review of relations (published by Edicions Bellaterra), by Isaías Barreñada, the book’s coordinator and a professor of International Relations at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, as well as Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio, a professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Alicante, and José Antonio Sanahuja, a professor of International Relations at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
These activities will end on Thursday, November 29, when Moroccan artist and writer Mahi Binebine presents his latest work, The Court Jester (Alfaguara).
These four books will be on sale at Casa Árabe’s Balqís bookstore.
